WHO WE ARE
ASOPICA is a group of non for profit organizations whose mission is to improve the quality of life for the Americas young indigenous people. By emphasizing in education, food, health, family values and ancestral traditions, we help tribes that live in the venezuelan southern plains. These are highly vulnerable communities deeply affected by the economic and social crisis of that country.
The group is composed of: ASOPICA AC, a venezuelan non for profit organization founded in 2003 and ASOPICA FOUNDATION INC, a Florida based US public charity founded in 2017. We run an elementary school called Escuela Integral La Coromoto in a rural isolated area of Apure State and a catholic church (Mision Santo Cristo del Capanaparo) in the nearest town, La Macanilla, where we have a project to build a school for one hundred and fifty students.
We look forward to become one of the principal non for profit organizations in Apure, one of the poorest states of Venezuela.

WHERE WE ARE
Our area of coverage is located approximately 50 miles north from the Colombian border in the southern Venezuelan plains of Apure State. La Coromoto Diocesan and the Santo Cristo del Capanaparo Parrish are in the La Macanilla, a small town of approximately four thousand people located 75 miles south of San Fernando, Apure’s capital, at the crossroads by the Capanaparo and the only paved road that runs south from San Fernando to Puerto Paez, a small town right at the Colombian border.
Our name derives from Caño La Pica, a small but beautiful tributary river of the Capanaparo river, one of Apure’s main rivers.
